The number of enterprises engaged in strategic emerging industries in Anhui province exceeded 5,000 in 2020, or nearly 30 percent of the number of industrial enterprises above designated size - those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan or more, the local economic regulator said on Thursday.
The output of strategic emerging industries made up 40.3 percent of industrial output above designated size last year, according to the Development and Reform Commission of Anhui Province.
New-generation information technology, new materials, biology and new energy vehicles contributed to 70 percent of the province’s strategic emerging industrial output, while three cities - Hefei, Wuhu and Chuzhou - contributed to 50 percent.
The trend of industrial agglomeration became increasingly prominent. Almost 500 enterprises above designated size operated in four national strategic emerging industrial clusters, with a total output of more than 300 billion yuan ($46.2 billion). In addition, 26 clusters at the provincial level attracted around 2,000 enterprises, whose output reached over 750 billion yuan.
