Zhang Lifang, deputy director general of the office, was present at the meeting and made a speech. The leading official of the Sister Relations Division attended the meeting.
Yong Chenghan and Maryland Secretary of State John Wobensmith reached a consensus on the major proposals and arrangement for the celebration, for which, the two sides also discuss in-detail the preparations. Both of them agreed that the time of 40 years is a good witness of the profound friendship between the province and the state. In addition to the great commemorative significance, the celebration will also bring more opportunities for the two sides to deepen cooperation and create new cooperation achievements.
The friendly relationship with Maryland is the first provincial-level relations Anhui has established with foreign counterpart. In the past 40 years, the two sides have maintained close exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, education, science, technology, agriculture and culture. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, Anhui and Maryland have supported each other and actively carried out international anti-pandemic cooperation.
It is learned that Maryland Secretary of State John Wobensmith has visited Anhui quite a few times and did a lot to promote the friendly relations.
